The Cross Keys is a historic and beautifully restored coaching inn with 8 double / twin en suite bedrooms and a 2 bedroom cottage. All the bedrooms are either 1st or 2nd floor rooms. The bedrooms have bathrooms with either showers (walk in) or baths and showers.
The Cross Keys is situated in the middle of Milnthorpe at the cross roads on the A6 there are busses and taxi's that could provide transport if required. The M6 J35 & J36 are close and the rail stations of Arnside and Oxonholme the Lake District (main line) are a few miles away, shops banks and post office are near with market day on Fridays next to Spar, Wi Fi and mobile phone top ups are available at the Cross Keys. Milnthorpe has 3 church's, cricket, football sports fields and country side a short walk away.

We can help you with public transport information rail and bus links on our web site and more detailed information is available. There is a shop mobility scheme in Kendal town centre. The Cross Keys is suitable for guests with sight and hearing impairment but not for guests with full mobility impairment.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
We have a large car park with spaces for 40 cars at the rear of the property, there is further pay and display car parks and road side parking available. Assistance can be provided from the car park or kerbside. Guide dogs only can be accommodated within the building. The route from the car park to the entrance is on a gradual slope with 2 steps in the bar up to the front entrance. The path and car park is reasonably well lit.
Main Entrance, Reception
The entrance to the front of the building has a small step. If assistance is required it should be requested in advance. There is no loop system within the building. A pad and pen is available on request. There is seating in the bar area. The door to the entrance is a traditional swing/hinge door. There is a hand rail on the left hand side of the stair case going up the stairs; there is no lift within the building. There are no stairs to the reception although the main staircase does go directly up from the reception. Assistance is requested by a bell in reception by the foot of the staircase. A public telephone is in reception.
Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc
The ground floor area is on the level and consists of a lounge bar breakfast room and reception area. There is a main stair case leading to the bedrooms on the first and second floors. The staircase consists of a first flight of 14 steps with a 20cm drop. The stairs lead to a landing with a further 2 stairs at 20cm drop leading off to the function room. A short flight of 4 steps leads off to bedrooms. There is a second flight from the main first flight leading to all the other rooms these stairs lead directly to the other 2 bedrooms. The staircase from the first floor to the next level consists of 14 steps again with a 20cm drop, with 4 steps at 20cm drop.
Public Areas - Sitting room, lounges, lobbies etc
The public areas consist of a lounge bar, breakfast / dinning room function room and bar snooker room and corridors between bedrooms. The lounge bar and breakfast dinning room being interconnected with access from reception is all on the level. The corridors are the same widths as the staircases and clear from furniture.
There are public toilets and disabled toilets on the ground floor the ladies toilet has 1 step between the doors baby changing is in the ladies, and public toilets next to the dance floor in the function room with 3 steps up to the toilets.
Bedrooms Bathroom, Shower-room & WC
All the bedrooms are en suite without any steps between the bedrooms and bathrooms. The bedrooms in room 1 and 2 have walk in showers. All the other bedrooms have double beds with baths and showers. Rooms 3 and 6 have 4 poster beds, room 4 and 5 have extra single beds.
The Cross Keys has a non smoking policy through out. Guests are welcome to smoke in the covered designated smoking area and the beer garden area. Use of the front entrance for smoking is discouraged. In the event of a fire a siren will sound and all guests must make their way down the stairs or use the fire exits and make there way to the car park at the rear of the Cross Keys. A deaf guard fire alarm system is available for the deaf or hard of hearing
